How do I transfer my ownership to someone else?

How do I transfer my ownership to someone else?

The transfer of interest between parties, the addition of names to existing accounts, or any change in title, requires a recorded document, commonly a deed or assignment.  Interests can be transferred by assignment, general warranty deed or quit-claim deed. Urban requires a copy of the recorded instrument to process transfers.

  1. Deed/Assignment recorded in the county/parish where the property is located.
    1. Document should be signed and notarized
    2. Document needs to properly describe the property being transferred/sold
    3. Document should include granting language
    4. Document should have a legible recorders stamp for the county/parish where the interests reside.  Contact information for the county clerk's office can be found on the National Association of Counties Explorer Map

Please send a photocopy with legible recorders stamp; originals documents won't be returned.
