When Are Royalty Payments Suspended?

To help protect your royalty revenue and reduce the chance of delayed or suspended payments, Urban Oil & Gas strongly encourages all owners to enroll in Direct Deposit (ACH/EFT). Direct Deposit keeps your banking details current, bypasses mail delivery issues and helps prevent problems such as returned or stale‑dated checks.

Avoid interruptions with Direct Deposit

By receiving your payments electronically instead of by paper check, you can significantly reduce the risk of payment interruptions related to:

  • Incorrect or outdated mailing addresses

  • Lost, stolen, or damaged checks

  • Checks that go stale‑dated before they are deposited

The fastest way to enroll is to use Urban’s secure online Direct Deposit Enrollment Form:

Enroll in Direct Deposit – Digital ACH Form

You can complete and submit this form entirely online, or download and print a copy to sign and return by mail or email if you prefer. Submitting your Direct Deposit information through either method will help keep your account current and your payments flowing as smoothly as possible.

When Royalty Payments May Be Suspended

Even with Direct Deposit, royalty payments may be suspended until certain conditions are resolved. Common reasons include, but are not limited to:

  • Missing or incorrect Tax ID

  • Incorrect address or returned mail

  • Assignment or transfer of interest that has not been fully documented

  • Notice of death of an owner where estate or succession documents are required

  • Lack of documentation or title evidence confirming ownership

  • Disputes involving the correct division of interest or ownership of the minerals produced

When a payment is suspended, amounts due are accumulated and released once the underlying issue has been resolved and all required documentation has been received and processed by Urban.

Enrolling in Direct Deposit and promptly updating your ownership and contact information are the best ways to minimize the risk of your royalty payments being delayed or suspended.
