What do I do if my check is Lost, Stolen, or Expired?

What do I do if my check is Lost, Stolen, or Expired?

DID YOU KNOW? Physical checks are significantly more likely to be lost, stolen, or delayed than electronic payments. To protect your royalty revenue, Urban strongly encourages owners to use both our Lost Check Affidavit (when a check goes missing) and our Direct Deposit (ACH) enrollment to prevent future issues.

Step 1: Complete the Lost Check Affidavit (LCA)

If you have not received your check and at least fifteen (15) business days have passed from the date it was originally mailed:

  1. Complete the Lost Check Affidavit (LCA) using Urban’s form. You may also download and print the LCA to sign and return by email or mail:

  2. Return the completed LCA to Urban using one of the following methods:

    Mail
Urban Oil and Gas Group, LLC
    Attn: Revenue Department
    1000 E 14th Street, Suite 300
    Plano, TX 75074

    Email
    do@uogg.com

Urban will verify the status of your check with our Accounting Department and, if the check is still outstanding, place a stop payment. The funds will then be reissued under a new check number in accordance with our standard payment schedule. Funds from your expired, lost, or stolen check will be added to your next royalty payment and may include funds for the current payment period. A separate replacement check is not issued.

Please allow up to 60 days for your Lost Check Affidavit to be processed.

Step 2: Enroll in Direct Deposit (ACH) to Prevent Future Issues

To greatly reduce the risk of lost, stale-dated, or stolen checks, Urban highly recommends that all owners enroll in Direct Deposit (ACH/EFT).

Fastest option: enroll using the digital ACH/Direct Deposit form

Use Urban’s secure digital Direct Deposit Enrollment Form:

Enroll in Direct Deposit – Digital ACH Form

Complete all required fields, attach your bank information as instructed, and submit the form online.

Paper option (if you prefer)

If you do not use the digital form, you may instead:

  1. Complete Urban’s Direct Deposit Form in full.

  2. Attach a voided check for the account to be credited.

  3. Return both to:

    Mail
Urban Oil & Gas Group, LLC
    Attn: Revenue Department
    1000 E 14th Street, Suite 300
    Plano, TX 75074

    Email
    do@uogg.com

Please allow 45–60 days for Direct Deposit enrollment to be processed.

Once you are enrolled in Direct Deposit, you will no longer receive check detail by mail. Your payment detail will be available online through EnergyLink (www.energylink.com), where your revenue payments will appear under your login.

Important Note on Expired Checks

If your check is more than 90 days old, it will be considered stale dated and will not be honored. Urban is not responsible for any fees charged by your bank if you attempt to deposit a stale-dated check. Completing the Lost Check Affidavit and enrolling in Direct Deposit are the best ways to resolve and avoid these issues.
